Reducing Stress this Holiday Season

Be less stressed this Holiday Season

Who doesn’t feel as if there aren’t enough hours in the day?  We rush through the day, ending up exhausted and still feeling that we did not accomplish what we needed to do.

With the holidays’ fast approaching our normal busy lives become even more so.  We need to find ways to slow down and enjoy our time with friends and family; time to take a breath for ourselves.

To reduce stress around the holidays we must first find out what is causing the stress.  Is it certain family traditions or activities that you feel you must do but really do not enjoy?  Maybe it is time for new family traditions that you will enjoy more can reduce your stress.  Or maybe it is over tired children who are misbehaving.  Try to re-arrange your day so your children have down time before your special activities.  Keeping in mind that children tire easily, especially around the holidays and they have short attention spans.  Your children will also react to your mood, so try to keep it light.

This season try to figure out what is truly important to you and your loved ones and do that.  This means planning less in a day, prioritizing those things and de-prioritizing those things that drain us of energy.

Around the holidays people tend to over consume food and drinks that are not always best for their health and wellbeing.  Keep in mind what we eat and drink can affect our moods and health, draining your energy more than you realize.  Choose food and drinks wisely.

The truth is Life on Earth is a brief gift and our time is too precious to be stressed.  If we want our lives to be balanced and healthy we need to lessen our loads and increase our down time.  Take time to breath.

Happy, Healthy Holidays
